01 Cleaning · Post-construction cleaning
Post-construction cleaning, paid on approval.
The gap between the builders finishing and you moving in is its own job, and underestimating it is why so many handovers slip by a week.
02 What the job involves
What you are actually paying for
Removing cement film, paint spots and builders dust before handover.
Also asked for as: after builders clean · post build cleaning
- Removing cement film from tiles and sanitaryware, which ordinary detergent will not shift
- Scraping paint and adhesive off glass, frames and fittings
- Clearing dust from window tracks, sockets, switch plates and cornices
- Cleaning inside fitted units, cupboards and wardrobes before anything goes in
- A final wet clean once airborne dust has settled
03 What moves the price
Why two quotes differ
Quotes arrive sorted by total, which makes comparison easy and misleading in equal measure. These are the variables worth checking before you decide one is cheaper.
- 01
Floor area and number of bathrooms, which carry the most cement film
- 02
How much paint and adhesive residue was left behind
- 03
Whether windows and façade are included and how high they go
- 04
Team size needed to finish before a fixed handover date
04 Questions
Worth asking first
- 01
Is this different from a deep clean?
- Yes, and pricing it as a deep clean is the usual mistake. Cement film, paint spots and adhesive need different chemicals and tools, and the volume of fine dust means surfaces have to be done more than once as it settles.
- 02
When should it be booked?
- After the last trade leaves and before furniture arrives. Booking it while snagging is still happening means paying to clean the same rooms twice, and cleaning after furniture is in means never properly reaching the units.
